TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Irfan Yusuf Shami who had completed his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan. 

In a press release issued on November 8, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that prospects for development of bilateral relations, as well as cooperation within the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other international structures were discussed in the meeting.

In the meeting, it was noted that thanks to the consistent efforts of both sides, Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations have reached a new level in recent years in almost all areas.

The parties spoke in favor of giving new dynamics to the activities of the intergovernmental joint commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, and other joint institutions.

Following the meeting, the Uzbek foreign minister thanked the ambassador for his contribution to the development and strengthening of multifaceted ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

The ambassador, in turn, thanked the Uzbek side for supporting his activities as the head of the Pakistan Embassy in Tashkent.
