Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry has said that Pakistan will continue to work with the US in fight against terrorism, aims at bringing perpetual peace in South Asia.

In two separate meetings with the member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Johnny Isakson and the member of both House Foreign Affairs and the House Armed Services Committees Congressman Joe Wilson at Capitol Hill in Washington DC on Thursday, the ambassador updated them on the latest developments in the context of Pakistan-US relations.

AMBASSADOR OF PAKISTAN TO THE US, AIZAZ AHMAD CHAUDHRY MET CONGRESSMAN JOE WILSON(R-SC), MEMBER OF HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS & ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEES IN WASHINGTON DC. BILATERAL RELATIONS AND REGIONAL ISSUES WERE DISCUSSED DURING THE MEETING.

The ambassador drew their attention to the marked improvement in Pakistan’s economic outlook and security environment in order to highlight the potential for business-to-business cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing his sadness over the tragic events in New York on Tuesday, Aizaz Chaudhry said that such barbarous acts of terrorism are a reminder of some of the common challenges confronting both the United States and Pakistan.

The envoy said while Pakistan had achieved great success in its fight against militancy and extremism, it continued to work with the United States in ridding the broader South Asia region of the menace of terrorism.

The members of Congress agreed with the ambassador on the need for continued cooperation between Pakistan and the United States for achieving their common objectives in the region.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
