ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and the Republic of Korea have agreed to enhance the collaboration in Skills Sector and Information Technology (IT).

The understanding was reached when a delegation of the Republic of Korea led by Ambassador Suh Sangpayo held a meeting with the Federal Minister for Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Shafqat Mahmood in Islamabad on Friday.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on a range of bilateral issues of mutual interest.

Mid-career officials including principals and headmasters’ short training courses through the KOICA support program also came under discussion.

As many as 500 Pakistani students are studying in the Republic of Korea in various programmes.

The delegations level talks will be held between two sides to further explore the avenues of cooperation in this regard.

Both sides also agreed to enhance the collaboration in the fields of art, culture, and heritage.

The Republic of Korea is providing a grant of US$ 4 million for the promotion of Gandhara Art of Pakistan and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard is on the final stage.

To promote the soft culture and to give relief to the masses during COVID days, the exchange of virtual musical programmes and TV dramas also came under discussion.

Both sides expressed the desire to further deepen ties through consistent engagements and working-level coordination in the areas of education, art and culture.

The Federal education Secretary Farah Hamid Khan and the Secretary National Heritage and Culture Syed Asif Haider Shah were also present in the meeting.
