ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan’s newly appointed Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Javed Malik has announced the launching of the first ‘Pakistan-Bahrain Friendship Week’ to mark and celebrate Pakistan National Day with renewed pride and patriotic fervor.

The initiative is aimed to unite the Pakistani community in Bahrain and also organize a series of events and activities across the country to celebrate Pakistan’s National Day, said a statement received here on Monday.

It also aimed at to promote and showcase Pakistan’s rich culture through a close collaboration between Pakistanis and the Friends of Pakistan in Bahrain.

Speaking about the initiative, Ambassador Javed Malik said that there are over 100,000 Pakistanis living in Bahrain.

The Embassy of Pakistan has developed a positive engagement with the community and working closely with them to plan a series of events and activities highlighting Pakistan National Day and also paying tribute to the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The first Pakistan Bahrain Friendship Week will include Pakistan Day community dinners at various locations in Bahrain and art exhibitions to showcase Pakistani and Bahraini artists, he added.

Two musical concerts in association with Pakistan Club Bahrain, special flag hoisting ceremonies at the Embassy of Pakistan, national song competitions and various other events that are being organized throughout this week, he added.

Ambassador Javed Malik said that the visits of King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa to Pakistan and the return visit by Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had given a strong boost to bilateral relations.

“We are continuing to explore new avenues and innovative ideas to further expand and enhance our relations in every field and take our positive relationship to a new level,” he added.

The Pakistan National Day reception will also be organized in Bahrain and members of the Royal Family, senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders and community notables expected to participate the event, he added.
