ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Uzbekistan will undertake a large number of new initiatives including Students Exchange Programs, Cultural and Linguistic Programs in 2020 to further cement the bilateral cooperation, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

In this regard, a discussion was held between the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan His Excellency Furqat A Sidikov and the President Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) Major General (retd) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery when the former visited the Center in Islamabad on Tuesday.Pakistan and Uzbekistan to take new initiatives to further boost bilateral cooperation

The president CGSS welcomed Ambassador Furqat A Sidikov, and acknowledged the smooth execution of the electoral process in Uzbekistan.

The Executive Director CGSS Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Khalid Taimur briefed about the new initiatives that CGSS will undertake in the year 2020 through which the Pakistan-Uzbekistan relationship will also be promoted.

It was also decided that more Conferences/Seminars will also be organized.

The Senior Member Advisory Board CGSS Ashfaq Ahmed Gondal, the Member Advisory Board CGSS Advocate Mian Abdul Rauf, the First Secretary at the Uzbek Embassy in Islamabad Jasur Saidahmedove, the Third Secretary at the Uzbek Embassy in Islamabad Jasur Khushan TASHBAEV, the Director CGSS Mehreen, the Public Relations (PR) and Communication Executive Mattia Arooj, and the PR and Communication Executive Palwasha Nawaz were also present in the meeting.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
