ISLAMABAD: British High commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson said on Tuesday that British Prime Minister David Cameron’s recent visit to Pakistan will go long way in further expanding Pak-UK relations.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Tuesday, he termed the visit of David Cameron as successful and said he discussed in length all bilateral and regional issues with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif including Afghanistan.

The British envoy said both the countries have similar views on Afghanistan and want a durable solution of its issues to bring peace there. He said the visit of the British Prime Minister was aimed at giving a message that both are on the same page on Afghan issue and want stability in the war torn country.

He said both the leaders also discussed ways to overcome the menace of terrorism which is common threat to both Pakistan‚ UK and world.

Thomson said that his country will provide technology to control Improvised Explosive Devices and British Home Secretary will visit Islamabad soon to extend cooperation to Pakistan in this regard.

To a question‚ he said both Pakistan and Britain will have to work together for the success of Afghan reconciliation process.

The British High commissioner said issue of drone attacks also came under discussion during the meeting and David Cameron encouraged to solve this issue through dialogues with United States.

Thomson said that issue of Muttahida Qaumi Movenment Chief Altaf Hussain did not come under discussion during the meeting of two prime ministers. However‚ he said British police is investigating the matter‚ which is an independent institution.
