ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that there is need for more steps and efforts to put in place an effective system for sharing of intelligence between Pakistan and Japan and for building capacity of personnel of law enforcement institutions.

The minister made these remarks in a meeting with the Japanese ambassador Takashi Kurai who called on him in Islamabad on Friday and discussed bilateral relations and different matters of mutual cooperation.

The interior minister acknowledged the selfless assistance and cooperation always extended by Japan to Pakistan.

The Japanese ambassador condemned tragic incident of Quetta and expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He said that Japan valued the sacrifices of people of Pakistan and law enforcement and security institutions in the ongoing war against terrorism.

The envoy said that Japan also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan for peace in the region.

Separately in a meeting with the High Commissioner of Australia Margaret Adamson, the minister said that both Pakistan and Australia need to benefit from each other’s experiences for steps in connection with anti-narcotics, stopping of human smuggling, effective border management and capacity building of civil institutions.

The minister said Pakistan gave extreme importance to its friendly relations with Australia.
