Diplomatic CircleLocals attack Pakistani Students in Bishkek; Ishaq Dar voices extreme concerns

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has expressed extreme concerns over the reports of mob attacks on Pakistani students in the Kyrgyz Republic.

In a post on X on Saturday morning, the foreign minister said that we have established contact with the Kyrgyz authorities to ensure protection of Pakistani students.

Ishaq said that he has instructed Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyz Republic Hasan Zaigham to fully facilitate them.

Sources said that locals in Bishkek had a fight with Egyptian students in the Kyrgystan’s Capital but afterwards, they began attacking everyone looking brown. As a result of their attack, targeting international students in Bishkek, dozens of Pakistani students suffered injuries while reports of six deaths also emerged.

Sources said that local law enforcement forces including police and military are not helping students. Therefore, Pakistani students asked the Pakistani Embassy in Bishkek to evacuate them from the area immediately and ensure their full protection.

According to the Pakistan’s Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz government has confirmed that there is no death of Pakistani student in the recent mob violence against international students.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs has also issued press releases stating that the situation is under control.

In view of mob violence around student hostels, the Pakistani Embassy in Bishkek strongly advised all Pakistani students in the City to stay indoors until the situation return to normal.

“We are liaising with the local law enforcement authorities to ensure safety of our student fraternity,” the Embassy said.
