PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Area Study Centre of University of Peshawar (UoP) in collaboration with Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) arranged an Interactive Session with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan His Excellency Ismatullo Nasredin on “Pakistan-Tajikistan Relations and Enhancing Academic Institutional Cooperation” on Friday.

The discussion focused towards the enhancement of political and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

His Excellency Ismatullo Nasredin deliberated upon various areas where Tajikistan and Pakistan can work together for a mutually beneficial relationship. He said that if we have a common past then we must have a common future also. He said that Pakistan is very close to Tajikistan and in future we can collaborate in joint researches.Interactive Session held with Ambassador Ismatullo Nasredin on “Pak-Tajik Relations and Enhancing Academic Institutional Cooperation”

It was discussed that there are many areas in which Pakistan and Tajikistan can jointly work together for the promotion of brotherly relationship including trade, economy, promotion of tourism, cyber and IT related issues and joint seminars/conferences.

The Tajik ambassador also emphasized the need for increased cooperation amongst the academic institutions of both the Countries.

Other speakers of the session included Vice Chancellor UoP Professor Dr Muhammad Asif Khan, Director Area Study Centre of UoP Professor Dr Shabir Ahmad Khan, Executive Director CGSS Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Khalid Taimur Akram, and Director Center for CGSS Ms. Mehreen Gul.

The session was followed by an interactive question and answer session which highlighted significance of the bilateral relations amongst Pakistan and Tajikistan and the role of Tajikistan in regional peace and prosperity.

His Royal Highnes conveyed his heartfelt acknowledgement to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu for the participation of Pakistan Air Force contingent comprising JF-17 Block-III fighter jets alongside air and ground crew in the Bahrain International Airshow. Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
