In an event titled “Diplomatic Reflections: Pakistan-Russia Relations and the Way Ahead” organized by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Russian envoy when asked a question by media persons restrained from commenting on Pakistan’s internal matters though he said that Imran Khan is a legend who won the 1992 World Cup.

“I won’t comment on the internal situation but would just say that Imran Khan is a legendary personality, he made Pakistan win the 1992 World Cup and its the reason he is a champion here in Pakistan”, Ambassador Danila Ganich said.

Ambassador Danila Ganich also said that in his view, Imran Khan is an honest and courageous man.

Meanwhile addressing the event, the Russian ambassador shared the need for deeper economic cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, and expressed his belief in upholding the traditional values.

Sharing Pakistan’s initiative on the day of Islamophobia, Danila Ganich said that it was necessary and added that Russia supports it.

The envoy said that Pakistan despite having suffered economic and human losses in war on terror has contributed significantly in countering terrorism.

The ambassador further said that Russia and the West are playing a dangerous ‘Chicken Game’ in Ukraine. He said that if common sense doesn’t prevail, this can have dangerous repercussions for international security and stability.

“Both sides must seek reproachment to balance interests,” Danila Ganich was quoted as saying by the IPRI posts on X.
