ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence and CPEC Senator, Mushahid Hussain Syed said game changer China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would lead to economic stability in the country.
Addressing a book launching ceremony “China’s stories China’s success How China transformed in the past 40 years’ by S.M Hali he said that CPEC was a strategic, national project which was above any person, party or province or even the government.
He said that the project spans 15 years and would unite the federation of Pakistan through progress and prosperity in various fields of economic and social development.
He said that a Parliamentary Committee having representative of all political forces had been constituted on CPEC.
He said that CPEC would connect around 65 countries and Gwadar and ensure economic revolution in the region.
“Pakistan has very important role in the region,” he added.
“China had expressed confidence over Pakistan by casting a vote of confidence when world was portraying Pakistan as failed state,” he said adding that CPEC was above political parties, above individuals and above any other groups.
The Economic Corridor, he said, would cover the populated and major areas of Pakistan and comprised energy projects, transportation infrastructures and economic zone along it.
Mushahid Hussain Sayed said Pakistan like China should ensure continuity in its policies.
He said that Pakistan and China had supported each others in very difficult times.
He said Pakistan could move to the road of progress, prosperity and development by following China’s guidelines and vision.
The senator noted that technological and economical developments were now shifting from the West to the East.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong said that China was a peace loving country and believed in people’s solidarity.
He said that the government of China was working to provide more facilities to its nationals.
“Our government is working to improve living standard of our people, we are committed to work for the betterment of poor people,” he said.
He expressed the confidence that all the targets set by the government regarding development would be achieved.
“The development is possible due to reforms and stability,” he added.
He said “no country could progress by closing its doors, “we have to open doors for other countries and learn from others experiences”.
He said that progress, development and prosperity could not be achieved without eliminating corruption.
The ambassador appreciated the writer for introducing modern China in the book adding that S.M Hali comprising some of his personal glimpses, spanning over four decades.
He said that the book was a wonderful combination of China and speaks volumes for chronicling various important events and personalities that shaped the destiny of China.
Group Captain Sultan M Hali in his remarks acknowledge the wholehearted support of the embassy of the people of China in Pakistan for providing research material whenever requested and the apportioned to visit China on numerous occasion.
