ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Canadian Acting High Commissioner in Pakistan Stuart Savage on Thursday appreciated the efforts of Pakistani government to tackle climate change effects.

In a meeting with the Federal Minister for Law, justice and Climate Change Zahid Hamid, the Canadian acting high commissioner, who was accompanied by Counselor Trade and Commercial Allison steward, also assured Pakistan of Canada’s support in this regard.

The High Commissioner said that Canadian companies are also working on small solar projects in Pakistan.

The federal minister told the Canadian delegation that Pakistan is preparing detailed research based INDC’s for COP-22 and formulated a team of experts for this purpose.

Zahid Hamid informed that Pakistan is establishing Climate Change Council consisting of all Chief Ministers and Climate Change Authority to deal with climate change issues.

The minister also told that Pakistan has federal and provincial Environmental Protection Agencies to deal with environmental issues. In addition, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also launched Green Pakistan Program to preserve forestry and wildlife in Pakistan, he told
