Summary

History took a U-turn in August 2021, with the US ‘Saigon Moment’ in Kabul, with the dawn of ‘Interesting Times’. The advent of a ‘Multi Polar World’ with twelve ‘Middle Powers’, eight of them, with a Muslim majority, including Pakistan, is a global reality. Contemporary global historians and military analysts are already calling ‘2025 the year of Pakistan, for thwarting the biggest Indian Air attack from 6 to 10 May, 2025, with Pakistan Air Force implementing ‘Network Centric Warfare’. It proved to be truly Pakistan’s ‘Sputnik Moment’.Add to that PAF ‘s stealth 5th or even 6th generation Fighters, in the future backed by Nuclear deterrence, to know exactly as to how the future is shaping up.

The Author carries out an incisive analysis of Pakistan’s challenges in a fast-transforming world in the domains of nation-building, Economy, and Foreign relations. He suggests 313 plus Reforms, Policy initiatives, and Out of box solutions to overcome these, given the nature of Hybrid war, within and without, confronted by Pakistan. It describes how the 21st Century can belong to Pakistan, as it has a history of springing surprises! The Key new Initiatives may include addressing Leadership deficit, defunct Elitism, acknowledging past mistakes, and a fresh look at problems of Youth, Women, Urban centres, and dozens of growth points of the economy. He discusses how the IFIs’ Hit Men have decimated Pakistan’s Economy through repeated IMF Programs, which have led to a ‘Debt trap’, an increase in the Cost of doing business, Inflation, de-industrialization, a Decline in Exports, a Surge in Unemployment, and an increase in the level of Mass poverty. In the author’s view, Pakistan is living through its ‘Century of Humiliation’ beginning in 1951. But the good tidings have begun emerging on the global horizon. The repeated IMF Programs, being ‘political programs’, were only meant to ensure the ‘Containment of Pakistan’, to make India a counterweight to China. But India’s myth lies shattered. In the Author’s view, Pakistan does not need an IMF Program, but the IMF needs a ‘Pakistan Program’. As regards the issue of servicing debt, he points out that by launching ‘Comprehensive Reforms’, Pakistan can achieve 7 to 8 percent annual GDP growth rates and generate enough revenue by 2027 to return all the Foreign loans. The new recommended Policy measures include a series of Reforms in Agriculture, Industry, Governance, Taxation, Finance, Banking, building of Water reservoirs, Energy, Irrigation, Education IT, Environment, Mining, Maritime, Tourism, Climate change, Mobilization of overseas Pakistanis, Foreign trade, FDI, and Economic diplomacy. These are, however, not possible without implementing on priority Exit from the IMF Program and Purges of Hit Men. Pakistan can no longer delay the doubling of its Defence, Health, and Education budgets and halving of Mass Poverty. A Course correction and ‘Paradigm Change’ have become the existential needs of Pakistan. These are also required to achieve their destined place on the High Table, in the 21st Century, by 2047 AD. Surprisingly though, the Author describes these goals are now doable, for building a Pakistan with ‘Pakistani characteristics’, as per the dream of its Founding Fathers!

While defining Pakistan’s relations with China, as the ‘defining relationship’ of the 21st Century, the Author discusses also ways and means, to cope with India’s threats and challenges, the need for straightening relations with the US, enhancing cooperation with the Islamic world and preparing our diplomats for future challenges and opportunities. etc.
