ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Delegations from Pakistan and Kuwait during the second round of bilateral political consultations have agreed to further cement the bilateral ties in diverse fields.

The consultations were held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwait.

Special Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs Muhammad Waheed-ul-Hassan led Pakistan’s delegation which also included the Ambassador of Pakistan to Kuwait, said a press release on Tuesday.

The Kuwaiti side was led by Ambassador Ali Sulaiman Al-Saeed, Assistant Foreign Minister, Asia Department, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations.

Expressing satisfaction on the existing level of relationship, both the delegations agreed on the need to further strengthen the two way ties.

They in particular agreed to increase interaction at leadership level, promote investments, enhance exchange of visits by businessmen, and raise cooperation between Pakistan and the Kuwait Fund for development projects in Pakistan.

The two sides also discussed ways and means to ease visa restrictions on Pakistan nationals and increase recruitment of Pakistani manpower for employment in Kuwait, keeping in view the close and fraternal ties between the two countries.

Views were also exchanged on the issues confronting the region.

The Special Secretary while highlighting Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘peaceful neighbourhood’ briefed the Kuwaiti side on the efforts being made by Pakistan towards promotion of friendly relations with its neighbours.

He also highlighted the achievements made in the ongoing operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against terrorists.

The Pakistani side also briefed the Kuwaiti side on efforts for increasing regional connectivity through China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and invited them to invest in energy and infrastructure development projects in Pakistan.
