Government of PakistanDecision to estimate value of gifts received in Toshakhana, bids invited

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Cabinet Division has decided to estimate the value of gifts received in Toshakhana, said a report by Dunya News.

For this purpose, private appraisers have been invited to submit bids by September 30, and the bids will be opened on the same day.

Sources said that the value of gifts received in Toshakhana in various categories will be assessed including jewelry, watches, carpets, and other items.

The Cabinet Division will enter into agreements with the successful appraisers, who will be paid charges for their appraisals. A formula for the payment of these charges has already been established.

Marks have also been assigned to determine the eligibility of appraisers, based on which they will be selected.

The gifts from the state-owned Toshakhana are available for sale only to political officeholders, bureaucracy (including both civilian and military), and judges of the higher judiciary. However, if a gift is not purchased, it is auctioned to the public.

According to government policy, it is mandatory to inform the government about any received gift and to deposit it in the Toshakhana.
