WANA, Pakistan: To keep the tradition alive, dwellers of the scenic Shakai, a tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan district marked the ‘Pashtun Culture Day’ with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.

The day was marked with great enthusiasm by showcasing poetry, music, dance, attire, customs, and several other aspects of culture.

The scenic valley is located some 33 kilometers north of Wana headquarter of district South Waziristan. Little schools children and youth with traditional pakhtun dress and turban took part in huge numbers. On the occasion, a number of stalls were set up to showcase various items including traditional foods, fruit, dress, and other items. The jubilant participants of events stressed that it was necessary to show the world that Pashtuns were peace-loving people with a vibrant culture and traditions. It is pertinent to mention here that the Pashtun Culture Day is celebrated on September 23 every year since 2015. This day was designated for promoting Pushtuns culture during the World Pashto Conference held in Quetta on September 15, 2015.

The Shakai tehsil, with a population of around 70,000, is one of the most picturesque valleys with mountains covered with lush green trees, a cold atmosphere, fresh air, and most importantly, clouds on the roads hugging you full of happiness.

The scenic valley is located some 33 kilometers north of Wana headquarter of South Waziristan district.
