KARACHI: A Pakistan-origin US citizen was recovered on late Thursday night from Karachi’s defence area by the CPLC and Karachi as they undertook a joint operation there, killing at least three abductors in the action.

Amir Hamza was kidnapped from the city area of Boat Basin at night between April 13 and 14 and the miscreants demanded ransom worth Rs.20 million for his release, Citizens-Police Liaison committee (CPLC) Chief Ahmed Chinoy told media.

The CPLC chief said that police received a secret report that the kidnappers kept Hamza in Defence phase-II.

Reacting to this, the personnel from the CPLC and police conducted raid in the area, but, were received by the miscreants with gunfire.

At least three abductors were killed in the exchange of gunfire and two miscreants including a woman were detained.
