Journalist community believes that target killing of Gauri Lankesh is not different than murders of activists Dabholkar and M. M. Kalburgi.

Bangalore Police claim that killers left no clue and case is difficult to solve instantly. State government believes that this is too early to implicate Hindu activist organisations in this murder while various Indian human rights and media organizations believe that deceased Gauri Lankesh was under threats from BJP activists.

Another activist M. M. Kalburgi was murdered at his residence on August 30, 2015 by two men who came to meet him and ran away on motorcycle after killing Kalburgi and Police also failed to solve this case although wife of deceased helped Kalyan Nagar Bangalore Police for drawing sketches of both killers.
