ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chinese Deputy Head of Mission Lijian Zhao on Friday highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s Southwestern Gwadar Port, and said it was the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government which handed over Gwadar to Chinese Companies.
While addressing at National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad, the Chinese acting ambassador said Gwadar Port was very significant for China, Pakistan and rest of the World.
Lijian Zhao said China was also responsible for developing Gwadar Free Port. He said part one of free port was appearing on the ground and state of the art business centre with facilities of a five star hotel had already been finished in record time.
The Chinese envoy said Gwadar International Airport would be built soon, and whose ground breaking ceremony would be held after October 2018.
The Chinese Deputy Head of Mission said a hospital was also operating in Gwadar. He said fisheries would be a great industry in Gwadar. He said 500 students were studying in a Gwadar school built by Chinese Companies.
Lijian Zhao said after the completion of infrastructure development in Gwadar, industrialization process of the port would start.
The ambassador said nine industrial parks would be built in Pakistan. He said eight projects had been completed in Pakistan whereas 21 projects were in the pipeline.
Furthermore, he said China had made tremendous economic growth. He said China was working now to enhance its gross domestic product (GDP) growth, adding in next 10 years, GDP of China would be double.
Likewise, Lijian Zhao said China wanted good relationship with everybody including the United States.
Earlier on his arrival, President NPC Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry and Secretary Shakeel Anjum welcomed the Chinese acting ambassador.
