Construction of Dasu hydropower project to start shortly

LAHORE: The construction work on the proposed 4,230 megawatt Dasu hydropower project will begin shortly, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in Lahore while talking to Pakistan-based country director of the World Bank Rachid Benmessaoud.

The project will cost $4 billion while it will be completed with the financial cooperation of the World Bank.

The chief minister thanked the World Bank for financially assisting Pakistan in the fields of energy, education, health, agriculture, irrigation and social development.

The World Bank country director expressed his satisfaction over the pace of work on the on-going development projects and assured to continue cooperation for them.
