ISLAMABAD: The appointments to the posts of Chief of Army Staff and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be made in accordance with the constitutional framework, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid told media representatives in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The information minister said both the positions will be filled within 30 days as per the constitutional requirement.

   

Rashid said the country is facing the curse of terrorism for the last 15 or 16 years‚ regretting the previous last governments did not make any serious effort to tackle this issue.

It is for the first time that the present elected government has made a serious effort with consensus to resolve this issue, he added.

The minister said the government is alive to the challenges and taking difficult decisions to steer the country out of these problems. We are neither resorting to political expediency nor turning back to the problems rather we are taking practical decisions to put things in order.

Talking about Karachi situation‚ the information minister said the situation is improving in the provincial capital and it will further improve in the days to come.
