QUETTA, Pakistan: An explosion occurred at the Joint road in Quetta,  the capital of restive Balochistan province, on Tuesday that left two persons injured.

The police sources said that Sardar Raza Muhammad Barech, the provincial advisor to the Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik on education, was the apparent target of the blast.

The sources said that the blast took place when the convoy of the education advisor was passing through the area. The advisor remained unhurt in the blast, they said, adding that his vehicle received minor damage.

However, two persons sustained injuries in the blast who were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment.
