ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday took a suo motu notice regarding Thursday’s dramatic stand-off between a gunman and police in the capital city of Islamabad.

The notice was taken on a petition filed by Tariq Asad Advocate.

   

An apex court bench headed by the chief justice will conduct hearing on Monday.

On Friday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali accepted blame for a delayed action against the gunman who held the capital city hostage for over 5 hours.

The stalemate ended after Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Zamurd Khan tried to grab the gunman, resulting in a shootout. The gunman, identified as Muhammad Sikandar, his wife and two security personnel were injured in the shooting.
