LAHORE: Former Test left-arm spinner and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief selector Iqbal Qasim resigned on Thursday from his position, hours after he announced the Pakistan cricket team for upcoming West Indies tour.

Qasim resigned after his work tenure ended, saying he doesn’t want to continue working as the head selector.

Soon after the resignation, the PCB dissolved the selection committee.

Qasim was appointed as chief selector on March 1, 2012 after former chief selector Muhammad Illyas resigned from the post. The appointment was made by the then PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf.

Recently, the PCB team management and selection committee were severely criticised for team’s performance at the ICC Champions Trophy in the UK.
