Business'Charter of Economy' must for achieving sustained economic growth: Dar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar has said that a unanimous Charter of Economy by political parties is essential for economic stability and sustained growth in the country.

Addressing a press conference along Minister of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid and Leaders of MQM Dr Farooq Sattar, Senator Tahir Hussain Mushhadi and MNA Kanwar Naveed Jamil,Senator Ishaq Dar said that political stability is must for achieving economic prosperity in the country.

He said the MQM has agreed to withdraw their resignations from Provincial, National Assemblies and Senate within a couple a days.

The successful dialogue between the government and MQM was a good development for democratic stability in the country.

Senator Ishaq Dar and MQM Leader Dr. Farooq Sattar signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) according to which a five member Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) would be constituted within next five days with the mandate to register and resolve the complaints of MQM and also other parties.

He said GRC will start working within next 15 days after issuance of its notification. The committee would resolve complaints of MQM within 90 days of registration of a complaint.

Ishaq Dar said Secretary Interior would be the ex-officio member of the CRC. He said it was his considered opinion from day one that the resignations of MQM would not be effective. His opinion was also endorsed by Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani in his ruling that the resignations could not be accepted.

Ishaq Dar said that MQM has a big role to play in country’s politics as they are representing the majority of the people of the Sindh province.

Talking about Karachi operation, the Minister said all political parties including MQM were on board and they supported the operation for a peaceful Karachi.

He appreciated the reconciliatory efforts of Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Moulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and his visit to MQM headquarter ’90.’

He said the government wants reconciliation and it was manifested during resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf during their sit-in days.

Therefore, after successful negotiations with PTI the government had agreed to constitute Judicial Commission which vindicated the government stance.

During the initial days of the government almost all leading world institutions were predicting the default of Pakistan but as a result of sound policies of the current government, we have achieved economic stability and country’s foreign reserves have crossed US $ 20 billion mark.
