ALMATY, Kazakhstan: The Second Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Counter Terrorism Exercise “Dostarym-2019” continues at training area of military unit of Regional Command “East” in Oskemen, a City in Kazakhstan, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The focus of the week-long Joint Exercise “Dostarym-2019” – being held from August 18-25, 2019 – is on strengthening Pakistan-Kazakhstan military cooperation, exchange of experiences in the field of Counter Terrorism operations, improving the tactical interoperability of special forces of both the Countries in fighting against illegal armed groups.

The exercise is being conducted in two stages. The main educational purposes of the exercise include international military cooperation and strengthening of fighting brotherhood, collaboration in techniques of joint planning of special operation, improve coordination for special operations and individual and group training.

The Closing Ceremony of the Joint Exercise “Dostarym-2019” will be held on August 24, 2019. The Commander of the Regional Command “East” of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan Major General Kashaganov Nurlan Musakanovich will be Chief Guest from the Kazakh side whereas the Ambassador of Pakistan in Kazakhstan Dr Imtaz Ahmed Kazi and the Defence Attaché of Pakistan Brigadier Shakil Faridi will participate from Pakistan side.

This is the Second Joint Exercise as part of bilateral military cooperation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. The First Pakistan Kazakhstan Joint Counter Terrorism Exercise “Dostarym–2017” was held from November 10-24, 2017 at National Counter Terrorism Centre at Pabbi in Pakistan.

Earlier addressing the Opening Ceremony of the Exercise held on August 19, 2019 and in which the First Deputy Commander-Chief of Staff of the Regional Command “East” Colonel Ushtaev Kuanyshbek Uskenbaevich also participated and delivered his remarks, Pakistan’s Defence Attaché Brigadier General Shakil Faridi noted that besides skill development, this occasion also provides an opportunity for Pakistani contingent to share our hard earned experience with our Kazakh friends which we gained in fighting the violent, yet; probably one of the most successful war against terrorism in recent history, with our Kazakh friends.

The Pakistan Army Contingent reached Almaty on August 17, 2019 to participate in the Joint Counter Terrorism Exercise.
