LAHORE, Pakistan: President & CEO U Microfinance Bank Limited (U Bank) Mr. Kabeer Naqvi and President & CEO MCB Bank Limited (MCB) Mr. Shoaib Mumtaz have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of strategic partnership to promote financial inclusion in the Country.

This collaboration between the institutions will establish a long term, stable and mutually beneficial strategic partnership.

This strategic partnership creates a platform for strengthening U Bank’s capability to provide a comprehensive range of banking services and promote various forms of cooperation including medium to long term Debt Finance, Housing Finance, Microfinance Funding and various other funding options.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Kabeer Naqvi, President & CEO of U Bank said, “We are delighted to enter into this partnership with MCB, with whom U Bank has collaborated on number of successful syndications in past years. This partnership will help stimulate U Bank’s financial inclusion agenda and help the underserved segments of the country. Furthermore, this will allow us to create efficient synergies with both entities to design and introduce innovative financing solutions.”

President & CEO of MCB Mr. Shoaib Mumtaz said, “We appreciate our relationship with U Bank and look forward to further strengthening our engagement with them to promote financial inclusion. Facilitating housing credit to low income segments is a major priority of both the government and the banking industry and we look forward to working in tandem with industry leaders to deliver quality services and financial solutions to the masses.”

The ceremony was held at MCB Bank’s Head Office with representation by senior management of both institutions.

Five terrorists sent to hell in Balochistan Islamabad, Pakistan: On 18 October 24, security forces conducted a successful intelligence based operation in District Pishin on reported presence of Khwarij (TTP). During the operation, five khwarij were apprehended and a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives including 3 x Suicide Vests were seized. Apprehended Khwarij were involved in multiple terrorist attacks and were planning to target security forces as well as innocent civilians. In an other operation in District Zhob on 17 October 2024, during a fire exchange with security forces, two khwarij were sent to hell. In ensuing sanitisation of the area, weapons and ammunition were also recovered in large quantity. Security forces of Pakistan remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicate terrorism from the country and protect innocent civilians from this menace.

Punjab Highway Patrol releases annual performance report for 2024 Lahore, Pakistan: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has released annual performance report for 2024 that shows promising working under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar. According to details, in the year 2024, PHP checked 31.4 million people on the highways across Punjab through e-Police Post App and arrested 6,537 proclaimed offenders/judicial fugitives. Punjab Highway Patrol checked 18.8 million vehicles with the help of modern technology and also recovered 3,350 stolen vehicles/motorcycles. Legal action was taken against 869,000 overloaded vehicles for axle load violation. Legal action was taken against more than 12,000 vehicles across Punjab for illegal use of gas cylinders. In view of the convenience of the citizens, last year, PHP issued 148,000 driving licenses - 678 missing children were reunited with their parents. 5,005 temporary and permanent encroachments were removed and traffic flow was improved. More than 112,000 passengers facing difficulties on the roads across Punjab were provided with various types of assistance and guidance. 119,000 citizens were provided with various types of assistance and guidance at Police Khidmat Markazes. 1,093 cases were registered for the use of illegal weapons. 20,925 liters of alcohol, 400 kilograms of hashish, 53 kilograms of opium and 5.5 kilograms of heroin were recovered from drug peddlers. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar congratulated PHP for its excellent performance - To ensure traffic flow, service and safety of citizens, duties should be performed with full effort and sincerity - IG Punjab's instructions
