KARACHI, Pakistan: The Ministry of Commerce and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) have agreed to install a state-of-the-art high capacity scanner at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

In a statement on Thursday, the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said that the installation of the scanner at Karachi airport will enable export consignments of vegetables and fruits, especially mangoes, to be scanned in the shortest possible time.

Simultaneously with the building of the scanner, a particular shed at the airport would also be constructed where the export shipments of fruits can be stored and protected from the weather.

The adviser said that the scanner will help remove barriers in the smooth export of perishable items leading to an increase in fruit exports.
