ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Finance and Revenue has told the National Assembly that 124,113 taxpayers have filed declaration under the Asset Declaration Ordinance 2019 and total tax deposited in the government treasury so far under this head is Rs 57,714 million.

In reply to two separate questions by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) lawmakers Dr. Nafisa Shah and Shahida Rehmani, the Minister for Finance and Revenue told that the main purpose of the Asset Declaration Ordinance 2019 was documentation of economy.

The minister apprised that the total income accrued from the Asset Scheme is Rs 57,714 million. However, tax payment of Rs 8,081 million under the present scheme will be deposited upto June 30, 2020 along with default surcharge.

To another question by PPP’s Naveed Aamir Jeeva, the Minister for Finance and Revenue informed that House that the total value of currency notes printed so far during the present government is Rs 888,950 million from August 18, 2018 up to April 12, 2019.

The minister further told that the stock of outstanding external debt of Pakistan till May 2019 stands at Rs 10,838 billion.
