LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab government on Friday allocated Rs 9.172 billion for jails and convict settlements in the budget 2017-18.

In the budget documents, Rs 92.943 million has been earmarked for direction, Rs 4.221 billion for central jails, Rs 4.688 billion for district jails, Rs 46.473 million for lockups while Rs 111.829 million has been allocated for construction work at central jails.

An amount of Rs 5.12 million has been allocated for construction work at district jails and Rs 10 million for other works.

Likewise, the Punjab government allocated Rs 2,200 million for Emergency Service in the budget for the next financial year.

Rs 2,130 million will be spent on 17 ongoing schemes and Rs 70 million has been allocated for five new schemes including construction of parking sheds for snorkel in Lahore, and establishment of four Rescue 1122 offices at Gujranwala, Nankana Sahib and Kasur.
