BusinessPM Shahbaz Sharif rejects OGRA’s summary for increase in petroleum prices

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has rejected the summary forwarded by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for an increase in the prices of petroleum products.

Earlier, the OGRA had forwarded a summary asking for a minimum increase of Rs 20 per liter in petrol prices and an increase of Rs 42 per liter in diesel prices.

In a statement, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the incompetence and serious mistakes of the last government should not make people suffer.

The minister said that the last government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan had acceded to harsh conditions of the International Monitory Fund (IMF) of increasing prices of the petroleum products to secure loan from the IMF.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government is making every possible effort not to put any further burden on the people, already facing the brunt of high inflation.
