ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the Summary forwarded by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), recommending a price hiked in petroleum prices by up to Rs 15 per liter.

The OGRA had recommended that that the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) be increased by Rs 13.05 and Rs 11.03 per liters respectively.

It had also recommended an increase in the prices of kerosene oil (SKO) and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs 10.55 and Rs 15.33 per liters respectively.

However, according to the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill, the prime minister rejected the OGRA summary and decided to increase the petroleum prices to a minimum level.

The prime minister accorded approval to raise the price of petrol by Rs 3.20 per liter, high-speed diesel by 2.95 per liter, kerosene oil by Rs 3.00 per liter, and light diesel Rs 4.42 per liter.

The new prices will be applicable from midnight.
