ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has felicitated the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for achieving the tax collection of Rs 1,840 billion for July-October 2021 which is 37% higher than last year.

In a statement on Saturday, the prime minister said that the tax collection in October has surpassed its monthly target set, adding that it is all due to a robust economic performance.

Imran Khan said that contrary to the propaganda, the income tax also grew by 32% Year-on-Year (YoY).

Earlier in the day, the Finance Minister’s Spokesperson Muzzammil Aslam said that the FBR collected Rs 500 billion more taxes than the last year to Rs 1.84 trillion which is 37% up on YoY basis.

The Spokesperson said that the income tax also rose by 32% to Rs 622 billion which is Rs 151 billion higher from the last year.

Muzzammil Aslam also said that the claim of higher tax at the import stage is not correct because last year taxes collected on POL at the ex-refinery level has now changed to the port.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan decided not to increase the prices of petroleum products keeping in view the public interest.

The prime minister rejected a proposal of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the Finance Ministry regarding the increase in petroleum prices in view of the public relief.
