ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The price checking teams of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) have imposed fine amounting Rs 520, 000 on profiteers during the last week for not displaying rate list and selling substandard food items.
According to the ICT administration source Wednesday, 20 price checking teams headed by the magistrates carried out checking and took action against more than 3,000 profiteers.
He said administration has intensified on-going anti-profiteering campaign in the city and rural areas of Islamabad and also imposed fines amounting Rs 520,000 on the profiteers for over charging.
He said price hike would not be allowed during Ramadan in any case and those indulging in over charging and not displaying the rate list of food items would be sent to jail.
He said daily price checking is being carried out in sectors G-7, G-9, F-8, G-10, F-10, Abbasi Market, Farooqia Market, Tarlai.
He said assistant commissioners are also checking the prices and quality of milk, meat, fruit and vegetables, yogurt and other items.
