LAHORE, Pakistan: The Director General Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Punjab Muhammad Ali paid a surprise visit to the Divisional Excise Office Multan where many officers and officials were found absent.

Muhammad Ali also conducted a raid on a reported blockade arranged during general hold-up where no officer or official was present.

The director general called for disciplinary action from the absent employees after issuing them show cause notice.

In the Divisional Excise Office, the Director Excise Multan Jam Siraj Ahmed briefed the DG on departmental performance, and told that the ratio of tax collection in the Multan Division was more than 70 percent.

While appreciating the performance of the Multan Division, the DG announced to award certificates of appreciation to inspectors who achieved their target whereas he directed the Excise Officers of Lodhran to speed up the work of tax collection besides issuing warning on the poor performance.

The DG Muhammad Ali further directed that all possible facilities should be provided to the citizens coming to the offices besides ensuring maximum cleanliness in the offices.

“The goals should be completed in time and all officers should note that surprise visits will continue throughout the province,” he said.
