ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued around 71 different licences in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector during the last fiscal year, a senior official of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources said.

“The authority has issued 12 licences for Operational Marketing of Storage and Filling Plants, 37 permits for construction of LPG Storage and Filling Plants, 20 for construction of LPG Auto-Refueling Stations, one for Storage and Refueling of LPG and one for construction of Production and Storage of LPG facility,” he told the state-run news agency.

The government, he said, was making all-out efforts for bringing rapid investment in production and storage of the fuel besides establishing LPG auto stations.

“The regulator is playing a vital role to increase private investment in midstream and downstream petroleum industry,” he said.

He said more than Rs 2.38 billion investment had so far poured in the LPG supply infrastructure whereas total investment was expected over Rs 22.33 billion in the coming days.

He said the licences would help improve supply and distribution of LPG as well as create job opportunities in the sector.
