ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Tuesday informed the National Assembly that more funds would be allocated for Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) programme in the forthcoming budget for financial year 2016-17.

Responding to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Iftikhar un Din regarding insufficient grant of funds, under the MDGs programme, for the under-developed areas, the minister said as per vision of the Prime Minister, all under-developed areas would be brought at par with the developed areas.

He said work on economic corridor and energy related projects has already been kicked off which would usher a new era of development and prosperity.

Aftab said that under MDGs programme, on identification of any welfare project by 15 people of the areas, funds were released to the concerned executing agency.

He said mainly small villages were being developed under MDGs programme.
