ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Mango yield has increased at least 40 percent this season while fruit worth USD 7.5 crore will be exported.

According to the Fruit and Vegetable Association of Pakistan, mango production up to at least 16 lac tonne is expected out of which one lac tonne has been planned to be exported, private news channel reported.

Not less than 40 percent crop was destroyed last year due to bad weather while the fruit worth over USD 70 million was exported.

Association stated that Pakistani mangoes are exported to UAE, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Canada among other countries.

The association is trying to land export contracts from Korea, United States (US), China and Australia in the ongoing season.
