ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was informed on Friday that 16 corruption cases surfaced in the field formation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) during the current Financial Year 2019-20.
In reply to a question by the Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, the Minister for Finance and Revenue told the Upper House of the Parliament that out of these 16 officers/officials, 04 belong to Pakistan Customs Service and 12 belong to Inland Revenue Service (IRS).
The minister told that all of the above officers/officials are being proceeded against under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.

The Senate was told that the FBR has establishment an Integrity & Performance Management Unit (IPMU) approved in the 6th meeting of the Board-in-Council held on April 20, 2018 at FBR (HQ), Integrity & Performance Management Unit (IMPU) is further divided into two cells comprising of Integrity Management Cell (IMC) and Performance Management Cell (PMC).
It was further told that the mandate of IMC is to look after corruption related complaints of FBR officers and officials. In order to facilitate the taxpayers, a detailed mechanism is in place to scrutinize, corruption related complaints and submit report along with recommendations to the competent authority for necessary action under the relevant rules and procedures defined in Efficiency and Discipline Rules 1973. In order to further materilize and streamline working of Integrity Management Cell, FBR has established and successfully launched Complaint Management System for redressal of corruption related complaints against officers/officials of FBR.
