ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan looks forward a key role by the European Union as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government embarks upon a comprehensive economic development plan.
Talking to the European Union Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark in Islamabad‚ he said the European Union is the single largest trading partner of Pakistan‚ accounting twenty percent of its total exports and sixty percent of its imports.
They also reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects supported by the European Union.
They also explored the possibility of enhancing bilateral cooperation especially in the power projects like Neelum Jhelum and Khayal Khawar.
Ishaq Dar appreciated the interest being shown by the EU for grant of Generalized System of Preference plus to Pakistan to enhance trade volume between the two sides.
The European Union envoy said they are keen to work with the new government in Pakistan in areas of rural development‚ education‚ human resource management‚ governance and trade.
