PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget for the next Fiscal Year 2022-23 with an outlay of Rs 1,332 billion was presented in the Provincial Assembly in Peshawar on Monday.

While announcing the budget proposals, the Provincial Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra announced that Rs 1,109 billion have been set aside for settled districts and Rs 222 billion for merged districts.

The minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated Rs 418 billion for the Annual Development Program.

Taimur Saleem Jhagra announced 16 percent adhoc relief allowance for government employees’ salaries and 15 percent in pensions of retired employees, besides announcement of a 15 percent risk allowance for police personnel from grade 7 to 16 and an increase in the police martyrs package.

The finance minister said that Rs 25 billion have been earmarked for the Sehat Card Plus and Rs 10 billion have been allocated for provision of free medicine to people including the first ever initiative of free medicine at OPDs.

The minister said that the government has allocated Rs 227 billion for elementary and secondary education while more than Rs 34 billion for the higher education department.
