ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In an unprecedented drive to eradicate the menace of non-duty paid/counterfeit cigarettes, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has seized about 16 million cigarette sticks in a single day.FBR seizes about 16 million non-duty paid cigarette sticks in a single dayIn a statement on Tuesday, the FBR said that its designated teams successfully conducted 429 raids on October 28, 2023 across the Country that resulted into historic seizure of about 16 million cigarette sticks in a single day.

The Member (IR-Operations) Mir Badshah Khan Wazir supervised the whole exercise.

Mir Badshah said that successful raids would send a clear message to duty evaders to halt their illicit practices. He resolved that in the next phase of the drive, criminal proceedings would be initiated against such culprits.
