ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Wednesday approved 16 projects amounting to over Rs 132 billion.

A meeting of the ECNEC was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad on Wednesday with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair in which 16 projects amounting to over Rs 132 billion were approved. Out of them‚ 12 projects relate to the energy sector amounting to Rs 96.484 billion.

The twelve projects include construction of 31.17 megawatt Koto Hydro Power Project at estimated cost of over Rs 7.5 billion.

Three projects amounting to Rs 41.391 billion would be in Sindh‚ 2 projects amounting to Rs 9.814 billion in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa‚ one project of Rs 11.822 billion in South Punjab‚ and one project amounting to Rs 8.731 billion was approved in Balochistan.

A committee headed by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission will look into causes of delay in the Kachhi Canal Project and suggest a way forward in its report to the next meeting of the ECNEC.

It was also decided that the next meeting of the ECNEC would be held before the end of next week.
