MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government presented over Rs62 annual budget for the next financial year in the AJK legislative assembly in Muzaffarabad on Friday.
In his budget speech, the AJK finance minister Chaudhry Latif Akbar said that Rs10.5 billion have been allocated for the development sectors to complete various ongoing and new projects for welfare of the masses.
The AJK finance minister said that that top priority was given to education and health sectors for which huge amounts have been allocated. He said that this amount would be spent on up-gradation of various educational institutions and construction of buildings.
The minister announced 10 percent increase in pay and pension of government employees on the pattern of the federal government.
Latif Akbar said that the highest amount of Rs10.5 billion would be spent on various schemes under the annual development programme.
Earlier, the opposition members led by their leader Raja Farooq Haider boycotted the budget session and walked out from the House protesting that they were not consulted before presenting the budget.
