In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), around 1.7 million Pakistani nationals are currently living, which makes them the second largest expat diaspora in the Emirates.
Earlier this year, the social media was abuzz with rumors of passport fees being revised upward by the Pakistani government in the Country and abroad as well including in the UAE.
However, the Consul-General at the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai brushed aside those rumors, clarifying that passport fee had not been increased at the Pakistani Consulate in Dubai and Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Though in a X post on September 13, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi apprised the Pakistani Community in UAE that a delay in processing of passports was being faced due to some technical issues in the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports in Islamabad.
It was informed that the urgent passports would be received in one month whereas the normal passports would be received in two months.
