Fees being charged by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) for issuance of different type of Passport

Previously, the Passport Fee was-fixed in the year 2012 when US Dollar (USD) rate was approximately Rs 97 and its fee schedule was as under:

Since year 2012, the government of Pakistan had not increased the passport fee. The increase of passport fee was inevitable due to rampant inflation in the Country.Passport Fee in Pakistan 2024

Moreover, owing to significant change in USD-PKR Forex during last 12 years, the cost of following passport production consumables and related expenses have increased manifold as below:-

  • Cost of Security Laminate Patches imported from France.
  • Cost of Security Inks imported from Germany.
  • Cost of passport booklet paid to NSPC, Karachi.
  • Customs Duty.
  • Procurement of spares from Germany to keep hardware operational.
  • Replacement of old/ outdated equipment/ hardware imported from abroad.

Therefore, a Committee was constituted by the Finance Division to analyze the passport fee structure, as cost of booklet had also been increased significantly by the National Security Printing Company (NSPC).

Therefore, the Committee recommended the enhancement of passport fee, and the same was approved by the Ministry of Interior with the concurrence of Finance Division, consequently, implemented with effect from March 07, 2024.

The current Passport Fee Schedule is as under:

The increase in passport fee is marginal considering the overall inflation and massive currency devaluation since 2012.
