Make Time For Self-Care While You Self-Isolate

BlogsMake Time For Self-Care While You Self-Isolate

With the self-isolation going on in full swing and the sudden depression of not being able to go out, it is the perfect time to start a self-care regimen for yourself. If you had never focused on taking care of yourself, now is the time to do it. It is the need of time to spare some part of the day for self-love, self-care, and indulge in things that help you relax.

The uncertainty surrounding the situation especially the anxiety for not being able to earn for a few have sent us down a rabid-hole of overthinking. So, what to do for days when the situation feels a little too much? Just take a little care of yourself. Here is how you can develop a positive self-care routine for yourself when in self-isolation:

Exercise

This is the best way to get yourself going and release those happiness hormones as well. Even if you aren’t a big fan of exercise, do a little unwinding every day by moving your body a bit. If you can, go for a run. Otherwise, take a walk at your rooftop. Just try staying active as much as you can. My personal favorite for exercise at home is Yoga with Adrienne and Leslie Walk.

Meditate

If you have extreme anxiety, stress and a lot of confusion regarding everything that’s going on, meditation is your way out of it. If you are a beginner or just starting up, you will definitely ask yourself why you hadn’t been doing it all along. Try Deepak Chopra’s guided meditations or Calm app and I am sure you will fall in love with the deep serenity and solitude you get.

Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude a day is a long-term remedy for all your mindset problems. The first thing you do when you wake up every morning is to set your intentions for a day. Write your intentions for what you want to accomplish that day so you have a clear head when you start. Moreover, practice gratitude by writing at least one and a maximum of five things you are grateful for that day. It proves to be an instant mood uplifter and you carry that vibe through the rest of the day as well.

Develop a Hobby

If you don’t already have one, develop a hobby and start practicing it once a day. Allot a few minutes every day to the activity of your liking. It can be reading, singing, writing, painting, designing or whatever. Just remember that it has to be something you instantly immerse yourself in.

Limit Your Time Online

It is super easy to start scrolling through social media when you are free. It is an addiction one can never get rid of. Hence, the best way to take care of yourself is to cut yourself off of social media as much as you can. Not just social media, but excessive binge-watching on Netflix shouldn’t be preferred either.

These were just some of the tips through which you can practice self-care while you self-isolate. Remember to go easy on yourself because the times are hard and loving yourself is the key to get out of it healthy and happy.
