Since the initial construction of the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in Madinah, it had three entrances for worshippers: the Doors of Mercy, Jibraaeel, and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, which are still present to this day.
In our current era, the number of doors of the Prophet’s Mosque has reached 100 doors that open 24 hours a day.
They always catch the attention of visitors or worshippers entering the beloved Mosque of the Prophet, peace be upon him, for their beauty and precision in craftsmanship.
Each door has a width of 3 meters, a height of 6 meters, and a thickness of over 13 centimeters.
The weight of each door is one and a quarter ton, and it can be opened and closed with one hand due to the special hinge’s flexibility in the opening and closing process.
The doors of the Prophet’s Mosque have names and numbers to help visitors identify the doors they entered through, facilitating their movement when exiting towards their place of residence.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has designated monitors to open the doors and the roof of the Prophet’s Mosque 24 hours a day, and to prevent the entry of food and large bags to ensure a safe environment for worshippers.
