BlogsChurail - Social Media Loses It Again, Blames PEMRA For No Reason!

When I say social media tends to lose it at anyone at any time, I mean it as well. From time and again, it has been proven that Pakistanis on social media are the most careless users ever. We do whatever we want to, we say whatever we feel like, and we spread rumors & speculations like none of our business. This lands us in hot waters as well. This time around, social media users, without any context, justification or clarification have decided to bash PEMRA for nothing at all.

Do not know what I am talking about? Please follow through: What Did PEMRA Do? Obviously, the first question you must have asked yourself is, so what did PEMRA do this time? The answer is nothing. For the first time, Pakistan Electronic Regulatory Media Authority responsible for serving as the watchdog for media content has done nothing and people are still bashing it. There is a social-media wide campaign going around against PEMRA where people are asking for accountability and answers from the agency’s chief on how it does not monitor the content properly. People want answers to the questions PEMRA itself isn’t aware of. What Did Social Media Do? Now that’s the right question to ask. This time around, the social media users have attributed content to PEMRA that it isn’t responsible for watching over. Recently, a video has been making rounds where we can see veteran actress, Hina Khwaja Bayat, talking about a ‘hand jobs’ she had to give to her bosses to receive promotions and career growth for her daughter. She is heard saying; “I used to give a hand job to my boss two times a day…. To a man who was about 20 years older than me to get a promotion… “These hand jobs turned to multiple jobs over the years so I can progress and get promoted.” The video has to go viral on social media that people started bashing PEMRA for regulating the content that isn’t in-line with the Pakistani society and not par with the entertainment that should be showcased in the Islamic Republic. Here is the video I am talking about: So, What’s The Actual Story? The video you see about belongs to the latest, one of the most trending shows, Churails. Now, Churails isn’t a Pakistani production and is the brainchild of Indian production, Zee 5. The show hasn’t streamed in Pakistan, and the clip has been taken from it. Now just by looking at Hina Bayat, people assumed that it is something taken from a Pakistani production and started bashing PEMRA without knowing that it isn’t its area of control and they have absolutely no authority to control or regulate what is being produced in India with Pakistani actors. On the other internet, the internet has still lost it with people posting tweets after another. Don’t believe me? Here are some tweets for you to feast your eyes on:
