Chery is a compact crossover produced by the Chinese manufacturer Chery Automobile since 2005 (debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show). It is the first product of the Chery Tiggo Series. The original vehicle was facelifted in September 2010 and received the name change to Tiggo 3 and another facelift in 2014.
Outside of China, the Tiggo 3 has also been assembled in Uruguay since late 2007, as a result of a partnership between Chery and Argentine Company SOCMA. After this, the Chery Tiggo is now entering the Pakistani market.
Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL) issued a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stating that ‘GIL’ is not in talks with any Chinese automaker to bring any SUVs to Pakistan and that the media reports are, “baseless and have no legal standing.” To the onlookers, it seemed that the Chery SUV will not be coming to Pakistan at all.
Before this media outlets had reported that the Chery Tiggo 8 will be coming soon and that one of the Ghandhara Group of Companies will be the one to bring the SUV to Pakistan. However, the news of GIL’s letter caused massive confusion among the audience because GIL had refused the statement.
The media reports were somewhat correct the GIL will not be the one to bring the SUV in the Pakistani market.
There are two Companies with identical names and logos the GIL (Ghandhara Industries Limited) and the GNL (Ghandhara Nissan Limited). The Company that will bring Chery to Pakistan is the GNL.
The GNL is planning to introduce a new lineup of SUVs in Pakistan. However, it not clear that if it will be the Chery Tiggo 8.
According to reports, a new lineup is being discussed with a Chinese automaker. This implies that GNL could be gearing up to introduce multiple new SUVs in Pakistan.
